Bicycling
Bicycling gives your mood a lift by boosting endorphins, reducing stress, and improving overall health!
Memphis is a great city for commuting by bicycle. The Bluff City’s bicycle-friendly culture features bike lanes on city streets, protected green lanes, bike racks, bike shops and co-ops, bike-related organizations and group rides, and cycling events. You’ll save on fuel, parking, and vehicle maintenance costs while knowing you’re doing your part to reduce the environmental impact of single-occupancy vehicle commuting.
And commuting by bicycle is a wonderful way to improve your health. A flat, five-mile commute will burn about 500 calories a day. Bicycling to work is an ideal way to get exercise without having to set aside time solely for working out. Bicycling provides cardiovascular exercise to help keep your heart healthy, lower your blood pressure, and reduce your risk of hypertension, osteoporosis, and type II diabetes.
